We are hiring a Wellness Counsellor
The Wellness Counsellor provides a variety of mental health services to individuals across all age groups within the Fort Nelson First Nation Health and Wellness Program. This includes conducting assessments, developing care plans, and coordinating treatment for designated clients and their families. This work involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver therapeutic counselling, group work, system navigation, advocacy, and education. The Wellness Counsellor links clients to appropriate resources, supports self-management, and aims to improve overall health and well-being.
Key duties include addressing mental health challenges such as anxiety, trauma, addiction, abuse, and family-related issues. The Wellness Counsellor offers therapeutic interventions using various methods, such as individual therapy, family therapy, play therapy, and group therapy, as well as crisis response and trauma debriefing. The position also involves education, cultural consultation, and responding to community crises.
The Wellness Counsellor works independently, in collaboration with other health care professionals, and maintains accountability to a licensing body. The role requires staying informed about relevant materials, policies, procedures, and other resources to assist in program development and address challenges that may arise.
