Welcome to Fort Nelson First Nation

​​The Fort Nelson First Nation (FNFN) community is located 7 kilometers south of the town of Fort Nelson in the northeastern corner of British Columbia; the community is located at Mile 293-295 on the Alaska Highway. The Nation is a Dené/Cree linguistic group with roughly 811 band members living on and off-reserve. It is one of six nations that belong to Treaty 8.

Join APTN this June as we honour National Indigenous History Month with powerful stories that celebrate the strength, culture, and spirit of Indigenous Peoples. Tune in for movies and special broadcasts that uplift the community and showcase Indigenous voices.

Four Cree siblings, separated as infants during the Sixties Scoop, meet for the first time as middle-aged adults.

June 12 — The Stand
This film blends archival footage and animation to tell the story of the Haida Nation’s 1985 blockade of Lyell Island.

June 19 — James Bay 1975: The Shock of Two Nations
The documentary revisits the expansion of the La Grande complex in Northern Quebec, and the story of the Cree and Inuit communities who stood up to protect their land and culture.

June 26 — Slash/Back
Maika and her ragtag group of friends discover an alien invasion is responsible for disappearances in their community.

A vibrant celebration of Indigenous music, dance and culture from across Turtle Island.

7 pm (ET) – 2026 Indspire Awards: Lighting the Way

A tribute to 13 inspiring recipients whose achievements are shaping the future of Indigenous communities.

9 pm (ET) – Beans

Inspired by true events, “Beans” follows a Mohawk girl on the cusp of adolescence during the 1990 Oka Crisis.

3:30 pm (ET) — Aitamaako'Tamisskapi Natosi: Before the Sun (Blackfoot) This award-winning documentary follows a young Siksika woman preparing for a tough horse race.

5:30 pm (ET) — Wilfred Buck (Cree) A documentary tracing Wilfred Buck’s remarkable journey from hardship to becoming an Indigenous star lore expert.

7 pm (ET) — Star Wars (Anangong Miigaading), A New Hope (2024) (Anishinaabemowin) A young farm boy embarks on a mission to save the galaxy from the sinister Empire.
9:30 pm (ET) — Coming Home (Anishinaabemowin) This heartfelt story explores the emotional return of a residential school survivor reconnecting with family and language.
